Choose the Air Cap you wish to have installed on your spray gun

The Fuji T-Model T70 (5070) is a bottom-feed HVLP turbine spray gun with a 1 qt (1000 mL) pressurized cup. It's a non-bleed gun, so it stirs up less dust in the spray area, and the big cup means fewer refills on cabinets, furniture, doors and trim. Choose the air cap it comes with, from 0.8 mm to 2.5 mm. The standard size is 1.3 mm.

Key Features & Benefits

  • 1 qt bottom-feed cup: The biggest cup in the Fuji gun line, so fewer refills on bigger jobs.
  • Non-bleed design: Air only flows when you pull the trigger, so it stirs up less dust in the spray area.
  • Side-mounted fan control: Set a horizontal, vertical or round pattern, and turn it to make the fan smaller or wider.
  • Two-stage trigger: Air comes first, then material, for a clean start to every pass.
  • Rotating nipple: Turns the pressure tube to suit either hand.
  • Stay Cool Handle: A nylon-coated handle that stays comfortable all day.

Applications & Recommended Uses

The T70's 1 qt cup suits bigger pieces and long runs, where fewer refills save time.

  • Cabinets, doors and trim
  • Furniture and other larger pieces
  • Most lacquers, sealers, varnishes and polyurethanes with the standard 1.3 mm cap
  • Pigmented lacquer and oil-based paint with the 1.8 mm cap, and waterborne paint and primer with the 2.0 mm cap

Fuji says not to tilt the T70 past horizontal unless you use a pressurized liner cup system. For lots of angled work, the G-XPC is a better fit.

Compatibility

The T70 is a gun option on Fuji Mini-Mite Platinum, Q Platinum and D6 systems. It takes 5100 air cap sets and the 5262 rebuild kit. It's a turbine gun, not a compressor gun, and it shouldn't be tilted past horizontal. Not sure about your turbine? Ask us.

How to Set Up and Use

  1. Strain and check. Strain the coating and time it with the #4 Ford cup: lift it out and stop when the stream first breaks.
  2. Fill the cup. Fit the lid with the diaphragm's small hole to the rear, not right below the air hole in the nipple.
  3. Connect. Attach the turbine hose and the cup's pressure tube. The nipple turns for either hand.
  4. Set the fluid. Turn the fluid knob clockwise to close it, then back it out until you get enough material.
  5. Test on cardboard. Spray from 6 to 8 in. Turn the fan control clockwise for a smaller pattern.
  6. Clean after each use. Depressurize, empty the cup, wipe it with a solvent-soaked cloth, then fill with fresh solvent and spray it through.

Size guide

Pick the air cap it ships with.

Thin coatings atomize best through a small cap and thick ones need a bigger opening. Measure your coating with the #4 Ford cup and choose the size whose range it falls in.

Not sure? Start with 1.3 mm.

Fuji says 1.0, 1.3 or 1.5 mm suit most fine finishing, and 2.0 or 2.5 mm suit heavier paints at 50 seconds and above on the #4 Ford cup.

FAQ

T70 questions, answered.

Which air cap size should I choose?

Fuji says 1.0, 1.3 or 1.5 mm suit most fine finishing. Use 2.0 or 2.5 mm for heavier paints at 50 seconds and above on the #4 Ford cup. The 1.3 mm cap is standard.

Can I change the air cap later?

Yes. The T70 takes 5100 air cap sets, numbered 5100-1 to 5100-7. Each set is a matched cap, needle and nozzle.

Which turbines does the T70 work with?

Fuji offers the T70 on its Mini-Mite Platinum, Q Platinum and D6 systems. Have an older or different turbine? Ask us before you order.

T70, T75G or G-XPC: which should I get?

The T70 holds a full quart, so it suits bigger pieces. The T75G has a 600 mL gravity cup on top. The G-XPC has a 400 mL side-mounted cup for tight spots and small parts.

Can I spray at an angle or overhead?

Fuji's manual says not to tilt the T70 past horizontal unless you use a pressurized liner cup system. For lots of angled work, look at the G-XPC.

How do I check viscosity?

Dip a #4 Ford cup in the coating, lift it out and start timing. Stop when the steady stream first breaks, and compare the time with the coating maker's directions.

What warranty does it have?

Fuji Spray gives the original buyer a 24-month limited warranty from the date of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship. See Fuji's warranty terms, or contact us with questions.
