Why ceiling paint
Made for the fifth wall.
Ceilings catch light from every window and fixture, so any sheen shows every bump and roller mark. Ceiling paint is formulated flatter than wall paint and easier to roll overhead.
Ultra flat finish
A 0–2 sheen at 85° hides common imperfections and lap marks, tones down glare and gives soft, diffused light.
Less mess overhead
Formulated to resist spatter when you roll, with solid hide and easy application in one or two coats.
Zero VOC, self-priming
Zero VOC and self-priming on drywall. Dry to the touch in an hour, ready to recoat in 1–2 hours.
Choose Ceiling White. It's ready-mixed and untinted, so it isn't made to order.
For new or previously painted drywall, plaster, wallpaper, acoustic ceiling tile and cured masonry. Not for walls or high-traffic surfaces that need frequent cleaning.

How much do I need?
Enter your room's length and width. We'll work out the cans for the ceiling, using 400 sq ft per 3.79 L, the low end of Benjamin Moore's coverage so you don't run short.
Painting several rooms? Add their lengths together, or run each room and add up the cans.
Two coats is best for new drywall or a colour change. A fresh coat of the same white often needs just one. Big job? We'll switch to an 18.9 L pail when it works out cheaper.
Colour ideas
White, or something more.
Most ceilings are white, but a soft colour or a dark ceiling can make a room. Tap a colour to use it for your order, or search every Benjamin Moore colour in the box above Add to cart.
Color Stories (CSP) colours can't be made in ceiling paint. For those, use Aura Matte. Screen colours are a guide, so try a colour sample first.

FAQ
Questions, answered.
Do I really need ceiling paint?
It makes a difference. Ceiling paint is flatter than wall paint, at 0–2 sheen, so it hides bumps, seams and roller marks and cuts glare from lights. It's also made to resist spatter when you roll overhead.
Can ceiling paint be tinted?
Yes. It comes ready-mixed in Ceiling White (09), and it can be tinted to any Benjamin Moore colour except Color Stories (CSP) colours. Search your colour in the box above Add to cart.
What's the best white for a ceiling?
Untinted Ceiling White is a bright, clean white. For a softer look that blends with your walls, Chantilly Lace (OC-65), White Dove (OC-17) and Simply White (OC-117) are popular choices. Not sure? Try a colour sample.
How much ceiling paint do I need?
A 3.79 L can covers 400–450 sq ft per coat. A 12 × 12 ft room has a 144 sq ft ceiling, so two coats take about one 3.79 L can. Use the paint calculator above for your rooms.
Do I need a primer?
Not on drywall. It's self-priming there. Prime plaster and wood with Fresh Start High-Hiding All Purpose Primer. For stains or other problem surfaces, ask us which primer to use.
Can I paint a popcorn or stippled ceiling?
Yes, but some stippled ceilings are water-sensitive and can soften when wet. Test a small spot first. If it softens, seal the ceiling with Fresh Start Multi-Purpose Oil Based Primer before painting.
Can I use it on a bathroom ceiling?
It can be used on bathroom ceilings. For a bathroom that gets a lot of steam, we recommend Aura Bath & Spa, which has a mildew-resistant coating.
Can I use ceiling paint on walls?
It's made for ceilings. It isn't meant for high-traffic areas or surfaces that need frequent cleaning, so use Regal Select or Aura on walls.
How long between coats?
It's dry to the touch in 1 hour and ready for a second coat in 1–2 hours. Cool or humid conditions take longer. Wait 2 weeks before washing.
Do you ship, or can I pick up?
We ship across Canada, free on most orders over $249. Pick-up is free at our Rockwood Village store, 1292 Eglinton Ave. E, Mississauga, and most orders are ready within 4 hours. Paint tinted to your colour is made to order, so it's final sale.
