Questions

Collection FAQ

What's the difference between Affinity, Colour Preview, Designer Classics and Williamsburg?

They're organized for different jobs. Affinity is 144 colours designed to all work together. Colour Preview is 1,232 colours arranged in strips from light to deep. Designer Classics is 231 popular, easy-to-live-with colours drawn from across Benjamin Moore's collections. Williamsburg is 144 historic colours rooted in Colonial Williamsburg.

Which paints can these colours be made in?

Benjamin Moore says Colour Preview and Designer Classics colours are available in all its products. Williamsburg colours are made in premium interior products. If you're not sure about a colour and product, ask us before you order.

How do Colour Preview numbers work?

Each strip shares a number from 2000 to 2175, and the second part runs from -70 (lightest) to -10 (deepest). So 2136-60 is a lighter version of Aegean Teal 2136-40, and 2136-30 is a deeper one.

Why do some colours have more than one number?

Some colours appear in more than one collection. Designer Classics in particular draws favourites from other collections, so Cloud White is CC-40, OC-130 and 967, and October Mist is CC-550 and 1495. They're the same colour; you can order it under any of its numbers.

Is there a fan deck for these collections?

Yes. The Colour Preview fan deck has all 1,232 Colour Preview colours. Affinity and Designer Classics are both in the Benjamin Moore Collections fan deck.

Is there still an Affinity fan deck?

No. Benjamin Moore discontinued the separate Affinity fan deck. All 144 Affinity colours are now in the Benjamin Moore Collections fan deck, along with the Off-White, Historical and Designer Classics collections.

What does LRV mean?

LRV (light reflectance value) measures how much light a colour reflects, from 0 (black) to 100 (pure white). Around 55 and up suits most main walls; under 20 is a deep colour best for accents, cabinets, doors or a cozy room.

Are the swatches free?

Yes. Benjamin Moore colour swatches are free, up to 10 per order. You only pay shipping, which is calculated at checkout.
