Klenk's Swiss Formula ACR – Epoxy Refinishing Paint for Hot Tubs & Bathtubs
Klenk's Swiss Formula ACR is an extremely hard, durable two-part epoxy that restores the finish on hot tubs, spas, jacuzzis, bathtubs, sinks and shower enclosures. It cures to a high-gloss, abrasion-resistant white finish. Each kit is Part A and Part B, mixed 1:1, and does two coats on an average tub.

Application Guide
- Test first. Mix a capful each of A and B, let it stand 1 hour and dab it on a hidden spot.
- Repair. Fill chips with a two-part epoxy filler. Remove peeling paint completely. Sand any rust and treat it with a rust converter.
- Remove caulking and grout sealer. Scrape off caulking, then scrub with Klenk's Epoxy Thinner and then ammonia.
- Clean with TSP or a cleanser such as Vim or Comet, and rinse well.
- Sand off all gloss: 200 grit on acrylic and fiberglass, 80 grit on ceramic and porcelain.
- Mix equal parts A and B, stir well and let stand 1 hour. Mix only one coat at a time.
- Apply thin coats with a 1" brush in 6" squares, vertical strokes then smoothing horizontal strokes. Keep the room at 24 °C or warmer and ventilated.
- Second coat after at least 2 hours, once the first coat is no longer tacky.
- Cure 5 days before using the tub or setting anything on it. Recaulk after painting.
FAQ
1Can I use Swiss Formula ACR on my hot tub?
Yes. It's made for hot tubs, spas and jacuzzis as well as bathtubs, sinks and showers. Sand acrylic and fiberglass shells with 200 grit first.
2How much do I need?
One kit covers about 6 m² (65 sq. ft.), which is two coats on an average tub. Larger hot tubs, or dark colours that need 3–4 coats, will need more than one kit.
3My first coat is still tacky. Should I apply the second?
No. Wait until it's no longer tacky. Raise the room temperature and use a fan. Store the mixed paint somewhere very cold in the meantime, which extends its pot life to about 48 hours.
4Why are there small circles where the paint won't stick?
Those are fish eyes, caused by silicone from caulking or grout sealer. Add 2 drops of Klenk's Fish Eye Eliminator to the paint and apply another coat once the last one is dry.
5Can I sand out brush marks or runs?
Yes. Once the paint is fully dry, sand with 400 grit or finer, wipe with a damp cloth and apply another coat.
6Can I spray it?
Yes. Mix 1:1 as usual. It doesn't need thinning.
7When can I use the tub?
Wait 5 days after the final coat before using it or setting anything on it.
8How do I clean it afterwards?
Use Klenk's Bare Bath or dish soap diluted 1:10 in water. Never use caustic, solvent or abrasive cleaners.
