Solid Stain or Translucent?
Solid stain gives an even, opaque colour and hides the grain. For a see-through finish that shows the wood, choose ProLuxe Translucent Premium Deck Wood Finish or the one-coat ProLuxe SRD RE.

FAQ
1How much solid stain do I need for a 12 × 16 ft deck?
The floor is 192 sq ft, so two coats is 384 sq ft. One 3.78 L can covers 250–400 sq ft per coat, so plan on two cans if you also stain railings or the wood is rough.
2Can I apply it over old stain?
Yes, over well-prepared paint or stain. Clean it, remove anything peeling, and sand. Test a small area first.
3Can I use it on new pressure-treated wood?
Yes, once the wood is dry. Moisture must be 18% or less, and it should be clean of mill glaze.
4What is the best weather to apply it in Canada?
Air, surface and stain between 10 and 32 °C, with the surface at least 3 °C above the dew point, and no rain for 48 hours. That usually means late spring to early fall.
5How long before I can walk on it?
Light foot traffic after 24–48 hours. Wait 72 hours for heavy traffic or furniture, and 7 days for full cure. Humidity above 50% doubles these times.
6Solid stain or semi-transparent?
Solid stain hides the grain and covers weathered wood evenly. A translucent finish shows the grain. Choose solid for a uniform colour and translucent to keep the natural look of the wood.
7How should I prepare the wood?
Clean off dirt, grease, mildew and mill glaze, power-wash at 500–800 psi, let it dry to 18% moisture or less, then sand. Coat decks within a week of prep.
