Roman Pro-880 Ultra Clear Strippable Wallpaper Adhesive
Roman Pro-880 Ultra Clear is a water-based, starch clear wallcovering adhesive for professionals and DIYers. It has strong wet tack and a long working time so you can adjust each drop. It's strippable with fabric-backed vinyl over bare drywall, and you can roll it on, brush it on or use a pasting machine. It's zero VOC and cleans up with water.

Where to Use It
Non-woven, vinyl, fabric-backed vinyl, grasscloth, specialty and residential or commercial paper wallcoverings, in light, medium and heavy weights. Undiluted, it hangs Type II and Type III wallcoverings. Not recommended over existing wallpaper. Don't use it when the room is below 10 °C (50 °F). Don't over-dilute.

Pro-880 or Pro-838?
Pro-880 is the all-round, strippable choice for light to heavyweight wallcoverings. Pro-838 Heavy Duty is a commercial-grade adhesive for medium to heavyweight wallcoverings. It covers about 280 sq ft per gallon and is not strippable.

Application Guide
- Prep the wall. It must be dry, smooth, clean, free of grease and structurally sound. Repair damage and loose paint.
- Prime if needed. Bare drywall doesn't need a primer under fabric-backed wallcovering. For other jobs, use a Roman primer such as Pro-977 Ultra Prime.
- Check the room. Keep it above 10 °C (50 °F). In a Canadian winter, heat the room before and while you hang.
- Mix. Stir well. Use it as is, or add up to 1 pint of clean water per gallon.
- Apply an even coat with a roller, brush or pasting machine. Keep it off the face of embossed or textured wallcoverings.
- Hang and smooth the strip, adjusting as needed.
- Clean up at once. Wipe excess off with clean water before it dries.
FAQ
1How much Pro-880 do I need?
A gallon covers up to 330 sq ft of wallcovering. A 12 × 12 ft room with 8 ft ceilings has about 384 sq ft of wall, so plan on about 1.2 gallons. An accent wall of 10 × 8 ft is 80 sq ft, which one quart handles.
2Which wallpaper types can I use it with?
Roman lists non-woven, vinyl, fabric-backed vinyl, grasscloth, specialty and paper wallcoverings, from lightweight to heavyweight. Always check your wallpaper maker's adhesive advice too.
3Do I need a wallpaper primer?
Not on bare drywall under fabric-backed wallcovering. Pro-880 works with all Roman primers, and a primer helps on painted or other surfaces.
4Can the wallpaper be removed later?
Yes, with fabric-backed vinyl on bare drywall. It strips once fully cured, which Roman says takes six weeks. Other wallcoverings may not strip.
5Can I reposition the wallpaper?
Yes, within its long working time. Roman doesn't give a number of minutes, because it depends on room temperature, ventilation and humidity.
6Is it for peel-and-stick wallpaper?

7How do I clean up?
Use clean water on tools and any excess before it dries. Embossed or textured vinyl takes more effort, so keep adhesive off the surface.
8Can I store it in a cold garage?
Store it in a cool, dry place and never let it freeze. Bring it indoors in winter, and don't hang wallpaper in a room below 10 °C (50 °F).
