Graco BlueMax II Airless Whip Hose

The Graco BlueMax II whip hose is a short, flexible airless paint hose that goes between your main hose and the spray gun. Graco says it gives more flexibility and more control at the gun. It is rated to 3,300 psi and comes in two inside diameters and three lengths.

Key Features

  • Lighter: Graco says it is over 10% lighter in weight.
  • Flexible: reduced coil memory, so it is easier to coil and uncoil.
  • Conductive core: Graco says it meets worldwide safety standards.
  • Plated spring guards: more corrosion resistant.

Where to Use It

Use it with Graco spray guns and airless paint systems, as a whip between the main hose and the gun. Not for systems above 3,300 psi, and not as your only hose. Check the fittings on your gun and main hose before you order.

Sizes

  • 1/8 in. inside diameter: 3 ft (25C827), 4.5 ft (25C828), 6 ft (25C832)
  • 3/16 in. inside diameter: 3 ft (238358), 4.5 ft (238959), 6 ft (238359)

Whip Hose vs Main Hose

A whip hose is only the last few feet. Your main line is a longer hose such as the BlueMax II airless hose. You need both.

  3. Thread the whip hose onto the main hose, then the gun onto the whip. Use two wrenches, one to hold and one to tighten.
  4. Pressurize slowly and check every connection for leaks.
  5. Flush the hose with your cleaner after each job.
FAQ
1What does a whip hose do?

It is the last short length of hose before the gun. Graco says it gives more flexibility and more control at the gun, so your wrist handles less hose weight.

21/8 in. or 3/16 in.: which do I need?

Both have the same 3,300 psi rating. The 1/8 in. is the narrower hose and the 3/16 in. carries more paint. Check your sprayer manual for the size it suggests, or contact us.

3Which length should I choose?

Shorter is lighter and tidier. Longer gives more reach when you work above your head or around a ladder.

4Will it fit my gun and hose?

Graco lists it for use with Graco spray guns and airless paint systems, but fittings vary. Contact us with your gun and hose models if you are unsure.

5Can a whip hose be my only hose?

No. Graco's manual for Contractor and FTx guns says not to spray with less than 25 ft of hose. Use the whip with a main hose.

6Does the pressure rating matter?

Yes. Your system's limit is its lowest-rated part. This hose is rated to 3,300 psi. Some guns, such as the FTx at 3,600 psi, have a higher rating, so do not run above 3,300 psi.

7How do I look after it?

Flush it after each job and coil it loosely. Replace it if you see leaks, kinks, bulges or damaged spring guards. In cold weather, do not leave water inside, because it can freeze.
